I have serious trouble committing to Terraria worlds because I can never make it past the early game (pre-hardmode). It just feels tedious and frustrating, to the point where it seems impossible that anyone could ever enjoy it. Has anyone else experienced this or found a way to cope with it? The only solution I've found is to use QoL mods but I current want to play vanilla and I also don't want to make the game easier.

One thing that someone told me is try to make a decent looking build in the world. You could get inspiration from completing it.

I guess that could work, I'm not much of a builder though. I like to focus more on the exploration and boss fights.

you need to get used to using blocks and platforms

to protect yourself and to get past enemies

for example to get past an overworld zombie, just place a platform on a tree so you can jump over it

caving and enemies spawn behind you? place a quick wall to block the moff

if the enemies are too difficult to handle box them in (like in gif above)

go underground, find as many accessories as you can, look specifically for "hermes boots", "_____ in a bottle", and anything that increases life regen or movement speed. look for "life crystals" underground, they're pinkish red hearts just smaller than the player, get as many of them as you can and try to get your health as high as you can (caps at 400). oh also, mine every ore you see.
