On average they both reduce damage by a verrrryyy similar amount so the brain of confusion is technically better bcs it gives 20% crit but worm scarf is more consistent. So it's not 'much' better.

soooo with that id say corruption is a much metter world imo. easier to deal with the enemies, easier boss, i personally prefer the scarf, vilethorn is a busted weapon, not much of a fan of the chrimson heart loot (tho i do prefer the pet, bouncing heart following you is hilarious), and all the good stuff (mainly ichor) is hardmode stuff anyway
