find a flat area in the desert and corrupt it/find one thats already corrupted. Then you just kinda wait. In the picture i've put hallow on the other side, so I can effectively farm both. Also spawns are fully optimised as mobs can't get trapped anywhere. Do something like that and it's easy to get shards fast

for crowd control life drain, clinger staff and nimbus rod, crystal vile shard are great (first 3 of those make the destroyer fight a breeze). For main dps weapons against bosses that aren't destroyer: spirit flame, crystal serpant, sky fracture, cursed flames, crystal storm are all super viable. Golden shower also for debuff purposes not a main weapon.
