Speed+arena, and also consider mining hellstone first
Assuming you're in expert+, when skeletron is firing his skulls, get uncomfortably close to him in order to make tight turns, because the turning rate of his skulls are good, but not good enough.
Try to take out his hands at the same time in order to minimize the amount of time he fires skulls for, as well as the amount of time for the fight itself
