I did it on my first playthrough too, because the one thing I know even Hardmode mobs are just really hard and annoying, so I make it earlier pre-hm, but the downside when I compared it to when I make it post-mech is that the pickaxe is slower, and even if the mobs is annoying I can get at least some good item for money or something
