I'm pre-mechs, but I built the crimson on a sky island specifically to prevent spread

I think then you need a six block gap between the areas, so just building a big tunnel around your Crimson to be fine, line the tunnel with gray brick, and make sure to fill it with background walls

I don't think you technically need to line it with bricks to prevent the spread, but Thorn bushes can reach across, and spread it

I have no idea what calamity does to lightning aura, maybe they even work for vanilla expert, but when I test in vanilla master lightning aura are by far the worst, for pre hardmode at least

Because calamity has actually competent summons(keep in mind it's 1.3), there is a problem: if you use a weapon from another class while using a summon build, you're basically using 2 weapons at once, which is of course not gonna be balanced.
To counter this, calamity implements a mechanic called "summon damage penalty". It works like this
If you are holding a weapon from either the melee, ranged, rogue or mage class, excluding anything that has axe power, hammer power or pickaxe power, will multiply your minion damage by 0.5x. The penalty is reduced to a 0.75x multiplier if you're wearing the forbidden armor or fearmonger armor
