So just was testing with abigail. She looks to really only be good in early prehardmode and early hardmode.

Mid prehardmode swap to Flinxes after Abigail. Then late prehardmode, imps/hornets.

In early hardmode, swap back to abigail with fire cracker until you get blade staff and continue on like normal.

I would say blade > optic because I prefer its AI.
Idk about damage numbers.
But blade is better than sanguin vs plant last I checked
