They'll shred it with background walls, though.

And tracking won't be as big of an issue.

If you have the blade staff, that would be your best choice. (Assuming you've killed queen slime)

If you'd like higher base stats, adamantite. If you'd like a consistent projectile that deals good damage (and really good against destroyer), oricalcum.
