Hey kinda weird question but does anyone know good vanilla-friendly terraria mods or ways to make a solo run more fun/fresh?

i’ve technically beaten the game multiple times on expert/master with friends, but i was carried so hard that i still basically feel like a new player

every time i try to do a solo vanilla playthrough i lose interest pretty quick and jump to another game, but i really wanna properly beat it myself this time

i’ve tried stuff like calamity/thorium before but i don’t really want a massive overhaul with 5000 new things rn, mostly just stuff that keeps the vanilla progression but makes it feel fresher or smoother

any recommendations? QoL mods/challenges/anything really

There's Exploding LAVA boulders now? lmao. I have a texture pack on that changes boulders to miku and bouncy boulders to pear teto and im in my hardcore MM playthrough. I was underground getting lava when a saw a weird lava cracked boulder that obviously wasn't textured so i mined up to it, and mined it through the wall. hearing a exploding sound and the 4 tile space filling with lava. that's crazy lol, love all all the new boulders.

exploration and discovery are big sources of enjoyment for a lot of players, so i'd recommend that you try to go in fairly blind
that said, this is a complex and a lot of people end up relying on the wiki for a lot of things (the help you get from the guide npc is a bit limited)
i find it more satisfying to figure things out on my own, but if you get stuck there are people here on the server that can point you in the right direction 🙂

I'm gonna assume that you already know basics like placing and removing block and walls.... If you wanna improve your builds a bit there are a few things you want to keep in mind:
Purpose! When making a room think about who would be using it and why, and add things on that theme that makes sense.
Variation! Don't use the same material for everything, mix it up a bit to give some texture to your build.
Shapes! Don't just copypaste the same basic box repeatedly, experiment with shapes and sizes.
Colour! Use paint, paintings and decorations to bring some life to your builds.

What sort of help do you need? For Skeletron make a nice sized arena, heart lanterns, campfires, make sure you have ironskin potion on, and a medium quality food item to eat before the fight. If you do all of those things it will be much easier

i use a few resource packs while playing terraria, one that makes the backgrounds HD and shadows and lighting HD, one that makes all the UI black and very simple so that items stand out bcz the default UI during combat is pretty confusing, and one that replaces the default ost with don't starve ost, these have improved my experience a lot.
