to the underworld to get hellstone or whatever the ore is called, mine it using your shadow pickaxe. be sure to use an obsidian skin potion, which can be found in pots in the underworld, or crafted at a bottle using ⁨⁨water bottle, fireblossom, and obsidian⁩⁩. get as much hellstone ore as you can before the time runs out.
be sure to also get a hellforge from one of the obsidian houses. It looks kinda like an orange well, ig.
Make molten armor & tools, and then fight Skeletron at the dungeon

you need obsidian & hellstone ore at a hellforge to craft the bars

You are confusing character difficulty and world difficulty, those are 2 different things

Character difficulty is when you make your character, mediumcore you drop your item, hardcore the character is deleted

World difficulty is when you make your world expert and master just make the game harder, it has nothing to do with what happens when you die
