shield of cthulhu is nice... but like... mounts are so much faster, and learning how to fly and use hookshots to make you fly faster is so fun, and you later get wings with crazy horizontal speed too

wormscarf has great defensive capabilities, and ankh shield on top of wormscarf is a LOT of defense, that might be redundant but might be worth it

my build is terraspark boots, soaring insignia, mana cloak, celestial emblem, celestial shell, and celestial starboard. But most of these are endgame items... but none of them are defensive! I'm taking the FULL AMOUNT of damage every hit but my idea is that I just get good at dodging!

the typical beginner experience is usually something like: explore the world, fight some monsters, explore some more, take cool stuff from chests, explore some more, die from a trap, build a base, explore some more

the Guide NPC is your best friend, he can tell you general goals to work towards and what you can craft with different materials
learn how to build housing and more helpful NPCs will join your little village as long as you have suitable free homes and you fulfil any other requirements they might have
always brings some platforms and/or rope with you to make exploration easier, at least until you get really good mobility accessories
explore the world, loot all chests you find, and remember to have fun! 🙂

hi can anyone help me with a problem i’m facing rn with my friend. we’re tryna have him play with us but he just can’t get through connecting to our server. we’ve been trying to play together for the last 3 days but one of my friends just can’t connect to the server. we tried having him reconnect and then connect again. sending him an invite through steam, and even having him click on our profiles and click join game through there. every attempt ends up with him stuck on the loading screen on a certain percentage and then it disconnects. like it goes “receiving tile data 61%” and it’ll be stuck for a few minutes before ultimately disconnecting. when we each tried to host, it was the same for him. but when we tried to join him, it doesn’t even load into the server. it just says “server found.” does anyone have any idea what we can do? he just bought the game to play with us and he can’t even join 😭

I don't do multiplayer. Just download an All Item World like Builder's Workshop via Steam workshop and get it yourself

Go to Steam Workshop and type Builder's Workshop

Download the first thing you see (all of them should work), to download click on subscribe

Then start the game, go to the worskhop section of the game, click on import world, press the little ▶️ under the file

Then click submit

The file will load and then it will appear as a world of your own

Go there and go the area with weapons

Yes, there is no way to have multi binds like in xbox or ps versions of the game. Instead you have to either use keyboard and mouse emulated through controller or the terrible controller support on pcrraria

Traveling merchants leave a little before nightfall. They come back with new inventory every now & then.
Any other town npcs don't leave.

one thing I'll always advocate for doing prehm is farms, getting a fishing location for each biome, an underground jungle farm, and a mob farm can all make hardmode grinding significantly easier
