Terraria 2 is a lot more likely to happen than people think. Red is having troubles to abandon his creation and it's understandable. Not saying it's a certainty though. Relogic is really secretive about what they plan to do in the future which is a goos thing imo

i've noticed some things seem to happen globally in the world, like plant growth and such. it seems items, so long as the world is kept open, persist, even.

enemies do not seem to persist under any circumstances i can find, but what else happens globally or depends on a players' presence?

I think you can find info on enemy spawn distance from the player online, since its important for things like farms.
Items have a limit of 400 before they start being removed.
NPCs are still around/teleport to their new house when player isn't near

Main way is angler quests, or crates.

I'd say do quests for the angler until you have a bit of journeyman/master-grade bait. Make some crate potions (annoying as those are to craft), and get your fishing power as high as possible

Plus, the more angler quests you do (and the happier he is), the more/better bait he gives

eventually he'll give you pretty good piles of the best stuff with every quest

IIRC it caps out at something like 7 master guaranteed with every quest

I feel they should add boss block checks to this game. They can only be mined when the boss is killed or with a luminite pickaxe. Can't be actuated until boss is killed.

Outline EOC block. Starts off pass through, becomes solid permanently when boss is killed.

Solid EOC block. Stays solid until boss is killed, becomes pass through when boss dies.

OH YEAH the fact of melee weapons not being directional

also non projectile melee weapons can't face on the way of our cursor an that's really fkin annoying

i don't even get why those have to be things anymore, they annoy more than "balance"

so basically make non projectile melee weapons swing in direction of the cursor rather than the direction we're facing
and make weapons swing in direction of our cursor rather than always from the top to the front so we can finally hit enemies under us
