If you're talking about weapon and gear recommendations ore broadswords and bows are good early game, you should aim for gold/platinum armor too, it's not too useful going for any armor below tungsten though. Once you have basic gear you can focus on getting better weapons for the class you'll play like the blade of grass or starfury for melee and undertaker/musket/boomstick for ranged

it only took fishing in an expanded oasis lake with a fiberglass pole and master bait with the full angler set, high test fishing line, fishing bobber, sitting on a toilet drinking ale during dusk rain on a full moon with fishing potion, sonar potion, and crate potion making sure to hit the bobber on a tile to reset its velocity and make it reel faster

Well, yeah, but only because it takes that many to craft the anvils in the first place. Shimmering anvils gives you 5 iron each, the exact cost to craft one. The same applies to copper pickaxes. So you're not getting more resources, just saving time by purchasing the materials rather than mining them.
