so im playing calamity mod for my first time and i saw how op the sea searing is so i wanted to get since im stuck on plantera and cant kill it. Ive killed the aquatic scourge at least 20 times by now and still havent gotten the sea searing. Am I doing something wrong? Im playing on classic character and difficulty if thats the issue

That is not true. Joja Cola is not a junk item, it is a consumable which grants Well Fed for 2 minutes. Joja Cola is not a shimmer transmute item, it is a tradeoff with the Dryad for a pet; both of which being a reference to Stardew Valley.

Joja Cola in Terraria is not a junk item, it is however a junk item in Stardew Valley.

Also not true at all. Useless means it has no use, it very obviously has 2 uses. It is also not a junk item as literally specified by the official wiki.
You can hate the item all you want, but it has a use and is not classified as a junk item.

It's not a trash item. It's an easter egg that has a little chance to spawn INSTEAD of actual trash while fishing. The wiki gives it the type "food" and "potion", because that's what actually is. Take it as a fruit that falls from trees when chopping them

Make sure you have a sizeable arena with heart lanterns, campfires, and potentially honey.
Bask statue and luck potions will help too, as damage relies on luck.

I recommend you defeat him yourself, however, should you no longer want to; I will happily join your world and kill him for you if you want.
