nah, by the time you hit the stage of the game where you do it, you can mine out hellholes in minutes

digging out those holes in prehm when you do contamination is painful

you need to do vertical and horizontal splits

and the desert biome takes up about 20% of your time with that due to sand

the other 80% taking hours due to how slow the molecart mines

then you have to clean up walls, put up some

bore the hole even wider

More damage focused, I usually use swords (I have a night's edge) but my defense is 51 with an iron skin. I've been using molten fury with unholy arrows (to get through the hungry) to damage. It's been doing extremely well, my buddy uses the bee gun, which has also helped us a lot.

Ok so you are going melee while your friend is doing mage am i right?

If you are going mele, 100% go melee, hellstone armor and get close to the wall, tank all you can while swinging the Night's Edge (it isn't the strongest pre-hardmode sword for nothing) and your friend running further damaging with bees

Your friend may also get meteor armor

Also speeding potions works too

That way, and with the right items, you guys should be able to swipe through wall
