smart cursor only works with 3 things, placing torches, mining, or chopping down trees

Terraria players and worlds are sort of seperate you can have 1 player use 15 different worlds or just let your 1+ players join 1 world. Online is host dependent but there are some servers they can be set up to make it host independent

although I don't usually mess around with self sufficient servers enough, I know tshock is really popular and offers many tools

so host dependant means that whoever hosts the world if they were to leave the server will close, using something like Tshock will make it host independent so the server can stay running without the need of the host being online

well texture packs and mods have been seperated, resource packs have been integrated into vanilla since they don't have any gameplay changes you can install worlds or player made resource packs in the vanilla steam workshop then enable them through the in-game menu

and you will still get achievements while using resource packs

I think I might be talking about something else. I'm referring to, for example, whenever I have torches in my inventory but not in my hotbar. I can press shift and the torches appear in an "extra" hotbar slot on the far right of my hotbar.

I can't find anything about this on the wiki, maybe I was just looking at the wrong spot though.

yup, that's the same function if you hold shift and over hover a block and don't have your pickaxe in your hotbar it'll create an extra slot and you can use your pickaxe
