In a way, it's more of a nuisance because you can't predict its spawn, only that it'll most likely occur in the next 3 days after breaking an evil artifact, and you need an open space for OOA anyways, so the enemies phasing is less of a problem. At least they don't have casters like Goblin Sorcerers, nor do they have Goblin Archers, at least in this tier. Javelin Throwers can be dealt with by your sentries.

WoF has you moving in a straight line, and SoC risks crashing into Hungry. The acceleration is more than fast enough to make up for the lack of a dash, same as with several other mounts. If anything, mount + dash is counterintuitive with their controls and their main advantage.

You just need extra jumps, and you're fine for WoF with Golf Cart.

Why bring up WoF? That's the only boss you don't need any movement mixups for. But for every other boss, you'll want to be able to turn around at any moment, and dashing is the best way to do that

Ok, sure. Either way, the event is boring. The only part of it that requires any kind of skill at all is Betsy, because the rest of it is entirely win or lose. If enemies get through your defences, you probably won't be able to stop them from destroying the crystal, but if they can't, then you just sit there doing nothing for 10 minutes until the event ends.

If taking on Queen Bee and Deerclops first, then WoF is the first boss you'll have Golf Cart available for, it's one of the bosses the mount shines most at and has fewer alternatives. Even for later bosses, mounts like Lilith's Necklace generally have fast enough acceleration that a dash is useful, but not required and at times disruptive. Bosses like Skeletron (Prime), Plantera and Cultist can all be circled relatively effectively, with only mild movement changes for specific attacks such as Skeletron spin.

I never do Queen Bee before Skeletron, and while the golf cart is nice, I would rather use the saddles from the Zoologist. The dash is just too all-purpose useful for me to not consider it, and I'm not trading fast movement in one direction for that. And again, the dash lets you turn around instantly, which only complements the movement of any mount.

I suppose. It depends on playstyle, after all. I, for one, find Queen Bee to be far too easy with Skeletron gear, and I typically factor QB items into Skeletron strategies. The Saddles are fine mounts and have higher top speed, though they do have slower acceleration than Cart, so a dash might be more worthwhile there than it would be with something like Cart.

You fight mobs to get specific items that will give you more leverage. You'll go looting and looking for items that you need. And eventually, you'll fight bosses. Some are easy, some are not. It's the basic structure of terraria until you beat it

assuming you already have a decent arena for open mobility, a trick is to keep going in the direction the lasers are going the moment the barrages fire. If you stop dead in your tracks or get stun locked, you're going to take massive damage. Use mobility accessories and potions. The probes he spawns also drop health when killed, so if you have a heartreach potion somewhere, it can help with health recovery.

Basic setup: An arena, potions, good gear based on your progression and class.

The thing about skeletron is that he's sorta annoying with those arms that keep on flinging so it's a good idea to try to keep your distance away from him. This is important because he moves quick when he starts to do his spin attack. if you're close to him during that phase, he's going to absolutely stun lock whoever poor soul that gets trapped in it.
Take his arms down first. Once that's done, he'll release projectiles. To effectively dodge these projectiles, go around in a circle around him, Without his arms, it's easier to move around him

What are unorthodox fun builds you people have made/tried?

During a medium core play through with my friends, we made a minecart rail that connected ocean to ocean with a bunch of pit stops along the way

It was the safest way to get anywhere

And it connected to tunnels that led vertically into the heart of settlements we placed periodically above, so say a blood moon or something happened, we could pop back up anywhere and deal with it there

A lot of fun turning and entire world into your bastion

Terraspark boots aren't really worth the time for me personally because I end up not using them enough.

an arena gives you more control but takes like half a decade before you finish. water walking potions just makes things quicker if you're not planning on investing the time

Terraspark boots are more of a long term accessory if you want to make the most out of that playthrough. If you just want to finish the game like with a class run, water walking potions are your best friend
