I'd suggest trying it out only after you've gotten okayish at the base game, else you'd be simply unable to progress to like half of the mod's content

Overhaul and and quality of life mods meanwhile are generally v good shit no matter where you are in the game and your experience

Master mode is really easy once you get used to it. It's a fine place to start from if you want to do regular calamity
