If your bases get overrun with corruption you can put down some floating platforms of grass and plant a ton of sunflowers and you NPCs will not care, but pylons will stop working

Well there are several amazing options for the destroyer, including the nights edge. You can also use a dart rifle with cursed darts or crystal darts, jesters arrows in a repeater or stormbow, meteor staff isn't piercing but it's fast and explody

Since you are new to fighting mech bosses gonna assume you haven't thought much about potions, farming, or fishing. You can make some insanely good potions with fish and herbs. Like
