it could have been used for other mechs, as it still did some decent damage, but for them, there were already better alternatives

What if I give one that's a bit more real?
Let's imagine, for a moment, you have a house. Big tall house, several stories, lots of separate rooms and windows.
All of the windows are rectangular, except for one. Why? They felt like giving you a circular one.
Maybe all the doors have knobs instead of handles, except for one. Same thing.
All the floors follow a certain palette, maybe reds and greys and whites. And then you have one that has a lime green colour.
Like, they set up expectations, they set up rules, a set of conditions that the player plays by, and then they break them. Not even for any reason that is clear to the unknowing player.

It's a bunch of little one-off exceptions that, yeah, patch out the problems or fulfil conditions, but are wholly out of place, and take control away from the player

Terraria should not be a game you need to know in and out, or that you need the wiki to navigate.

There are a number of other flaws I'm willing to overlook.
There is just this one. If you're gonna have something like this, where the general rule is transmute and uncraft certain items.
Don't have unclear exceptions. Right? Something like, all arrows being turned into the special arrow type would be great. Having all items sold by NPCs off the table would be fine.
The rule for exclusion here is "players found a way to exploit it," which is entirely arbitrary, and never communicated to players through the game.

Random blacklists for uncrafting aren't communicated to the player, and thet seem random to new players.

• So, I proposed that, for things that were being exploited for infinite money;
  Sell values can be adjusted. Something should not be able to be bought, made into less-proccessed materials, and sell for more. It would take adjusting a few, but it wouldn't be quite as unclear to players who are unaware.
• Invulnerability exploit from liquid should just be resolved as the player can still take damage. Maybe remove knockback, but having a universal fix would be comprehensive for the player, there is no confusion or ambiguity about how it works
• Early temple should just be allowed, if hoiks work, or hoiking into temple should be removed. Hoik is available sooner, and easier to do, so why does that work, but not phasing through tiles?
• I honestly think their resolutions to buff potions are fine, assume the player has alch table, at least they will all work that way.

Transmutations still exist for some items, and I do wish there was a way to communicate that, but with above, there aren't any "crafted item isn't uncrafted" scenarios.

EDIT: For items where some can be transmuted (eg, arrows, campfires, torches, etc), all items of the same type (not ID, type, being functionality, usestyle, etc) should instead transform into the different type (eg, all arrows -> the, uh, aether ones)

If something doesn't respond, it should be super obvious why. Doesn't have a crafting recipe, and there's nothing that would make sense for it to turn into

I know that's a problem. I just don't know why they don't let you get those that way. Is it to prevent getting Hardmode items earlier than you're supposed to? You can get Bandage and Megaphone early now. Is it to skip waiting for a Sandstorm or Blizzard? You can reforge items using Shimmer, saving money and time to grind for that money.

The crafting recipe for the bottles was itself only introduced in 1.4.4, so what's the point?

Put the Dryad in a Graveyard, and she'll sell Crimson Seeds in Hardmode. Use those to make an artificial Crimson, extend it down into the Caverns layer, and wait for Crimson Mimics to spawn naturally. They cannot be spawned manually on normal Corrupt worlds; the Key of Night will always spawn Corrupt Mimics.

One thing you should consider is the fact that the crimson/corruption is going to be spreading much faster now, if you have a pylon system that the evil biome invades, it won't work anymore. Another thing is that with the hammer the wall of flesh dropped, you can break demon/crimson alters, which releases new and stronger ores into your world.

Because in master mode if you dont get the right weapons your options are either to dig down and pray for no worms or just die from being surrounded by infection
