You need to replace the old character with the updated character in the folder, along with its backup files just in case, then reboot the game. It's best to put these in their own separate folder. Name it Backup or similar and put your okd character and its backup files there.

Just take whichever one generates in your world, or skip it and go for Mythril or Orichalcum. Either way, you don't really want both Tier 1 and 2 Ore armor, get one or the other and either keep it or go straight for Tier 3, Frost or Crystal Assassin armor.

Exploring the underground of other area/biomes will help you find more stuff and materials, underground ice biome will get you your first summoner armor and a Flix staff, a decent summoner whip can der made with stuff in the underground jungle

Well you probably should build more rooms

A nurse can spawn in if you have used a heart, a merchant can spawn if you have 50 silver, and more for various other requirements

They will allow the first boss to spawn as well

3 tiles at least. Walls don't really matter. Blocks can corrupt them, but they cannot corrupt blocks anymore. I also believe they do not count towards the infection percentage.

The viking is to basically make the flinches stuck inside of the box where the enemies fall into, and then it will constantly hit the enemies producing lots of money. You need a gold coin accessory and a lucky coin to make the coins drop and to pick up the coins before the mobs in the container will pick them up. You can craft a Gold Ring and a Lucky Coin together to make a Coin Ring

so the left side of the recluses, uhm the right side of that wall has to be 2 blocks i think unless the finch problem is fixed

and you could fix the sand problem by placing it closer or just so the top of the sand doesnt have a spawn place

I don't think i've noticed how shallow the gap between mechs and plantera is.

it's like a matter of a few hours tops for getting life fruit and building an arena
