That lake yields both Jungle and Snow drops if fished at surface level.

You have to build up a platform high enough that the biome is exclusively Snow.

The Jungle background and music persist, but the Snow effect is active and Torch God detects the area as a snow biome.

They do spawn on the surface, so you could go to the length of creating a distinct spawning platform in the jungle for them, in a way that will prevent spawns elsewhere.
Useful for event farming later anyway

Even more to the point then, you certainly have a dash. Mimics have a sort of "slam" attack where they must first fly into the air, you can use that to safely get on the opposite side.
Otherwise it is just run away and shoot.
Mimics do have a phase where they reflect projectiles, and it's entirely possible you're hurting yourself that way

Since damage values are applied additively, the same case exists without modifiers, but this emphasized the difference. Additionally, values shown are single-hit damage, I'll explain why that's not important after...

Abigail = 42 damage
Imp = 31 damage (x6)
Hardmode/Pre-Mechs: +150% minion damage, 7 minion slots
Abigail = 132 damage

Vampire Bat = 87 damage (x7)
Sharknado = 150 damage (x7)```
So, generally speaking, yes, flower has higher single-hit damage than other minions. If you count one hit and one hit ONLY, then it outperforms most other things. The issue is that, while it does get an attack rate increase, it isn't enough to outcompete what is effectively the same increase from other minions (see `(x#)`).
These were calculated straight from wiki, I can tell you how to get these, yourself, and I will go find spiders to see how those compare.

Edit: I have more of these available, I did run calculations for other minions (eg, finch, flinx, starcell, terraprisma, edagger, etc), but had to cut to not be marked as spam here, and for other platform(s) where I re-pulled info from.

I based it off of how fast they can kill queen slime, and generally in my testing abigail faired better than the spiders and pirates for that but not sanguine

Sanguine had a 42.16 kill time, Abby had a 42.89 kill time, Pirates had a 71.66 kill time, and Spiders had a 71.71 kill time
