yes, they create a star some tiles above the spawn location + a random offset, their speed is set in way that they will spawn in that location and then hit the impact site of the arrow after exactly 40 frames. That first star spawns a second star with the same gimmick, and that second star does not spawn an additional star

I called them prismatic arrows, they had an effect in the inventory where it rapidly flashed around 2 images of the arrow that were either yellow, magenta or cyan on top of the inventory icon of the arrow, offset by a random value. those images had additive blending in them

they were made out of nearly solid colors and the tip had a sparkle like the nightglow

they had afterimages with the same effects as the inventory sprite

and they spawned 4 homing stars on the edges of the screen on hit

overall I'm quite proud of them

I noticed they also broke one of my favorite passtimes, obsidian generators run with pumps. Though I still have loads of notes to read if I find the patience. That's something I found out the hard way

You find it by mining a block that looks COMPLETELY IDENTICAL to dirt, merges with dirt, meaning it's completely undistinguishable, and there are like 3 per world, that could be anywhere on the world

Depends on the type of minion used. Firecracker's hit effect benefits heavy hitting and/or single unit summons like Abigail, Sanguine Staff, Desert Tiger and Stardust Dragon. Cool Whip's conventional Summon Tag is a much better fit for a fast attacking minion like Blade Staff especially.

I would say it depends honestly. Obsidian is meant for whip usage. Bee Armor gives you an extra minion. I would say you are going to mostly likely get more DPS with Obsidian because of the whip bonuses. Pair it with Feral Claws and you will demolish stuff.

If you plan on having your minions/sentries doing all the work then I would assume Bee Armor would be the way to go.
