honestly the best way I've found to describe calamity is that it's very polarizing
Take like 50% of the stuff you think you know about the game, and throw it out of the window
it does a lot of good things, a lot of bad things, and a lot of unnecessary things

Don't get your hopes up though, meowthrower is a projectile that shoots out pink and blue dust, similar to what the flamethrowers did pre 1.4.4(except, you know, blue and pink instead of orange), and it makes a meow noise when it hits an enemy

but sprite does look nice I suppose

if you want extra difficulty in mods, there are

1. Revengeance - a step up from expert(as when it was made, master did not exist) - (from calamity, changes all boss AIs and some enemies AIs + some minor mechanics)
2. Death - a step up from revengeance (also from calamity, once again changes all boss AIs even more + more I don't remember)
3. Infernum - an unofficial step up from death, made from an ex-developer of calamity(this is not in calamity, and is downloadable as a separate mod).
4. Eternity - a massive step up from expert which majorly changes every single boss in the game, along with new skins like wall of flesh being the wall of hallow, also changes many enemy AIs and adds environmental effects(this is from fargo soul's mod, it adds a lot of other neat things too)
