IG get platinum/gold armour before fighting any bosses. Also get a good sword from the ice biome. Then find a dungeon and fight Skeletron (Classic) as your first boss. Grab an obsidian key from the dungeon below and go to the underworld and start looting till you get dark lance. Most of the bosses in pre hardmode from then on will be a breeze
