Did you make your farm too small? It has to be 168x94 tiles minimum, you should make it wider so that if you move away from the centre, enemies won’t spawn in gaps preventing them from reaching you.

Use battle pots and water candles if you haven’t already to increase spawns.

And make sure you have a a layer of tiles which the chaos elementals can actually spawn on, like pearlstone.
