to put it in perspective of how it got nerfed though, here's some stats... 1.4.3 update I killed wall of flesh on mmftw in 1 min 46 seconds(full warding pre sure). In 1.4.4+ on legendary mode I killed it in 2min 2 seconds full warding. So really, its not that bad.

This was essentially my setup. I found great success utilising honey, bast statue + armored/warding on reforges and buffs to make the fight easier and less punishing. The honey is such a clutch factor for recovery, also, having a solid block platform that the eater cant get up to gives you some much needed breather time if you're caught lacking. The gear is very standard, pretty much the only loadout you have for summoner at this stage.

u could either set up some kind of frog farm and wait for a golden one or make a lot of worlds and turn all the herb bags you get into cans of worms and open them until u get a golden worm

You could, but digging is slower, and there will also be a V of evil and hollow once you start hardmode which might go past your borders

The terrablade is better for taking out the eyes but the daybreak still works pretty nicely. You can use Endurance potions to increase your damage reduction up to 55% in combination with the armor. Lifeforce potions can get you to 600 max HP, rage or wrath potions can help you with damage, and a UFO can make it easier to just keep moving through the sky
