I managed to find a rather large Crimson biome that I safely contained from the rest of the world with a massive stone slab border. I can erase the Crimson that was created by killing the WoF and have a completely contained Crimson for farming purposes.
I need to contain the Hallow and Corruption eventually though

they've fixed it up a lot to keep people from doing that. Have you tried hooking across the ceiling? there shouldn't be triggers up there, only spikes.
