i like to dig a 3 block high trench horizontally at about the mid depth

then straight up contain any patches of corruption

so that the only corruption i have to worry about is from the conversion to hard mode

The Caustic Summon staff should create a fair amount of debuffs already, I'd say just use the flask you would prefer to have on them more since the Caustic Staff can inflict both
