Unless you're against mods, do this on calamity. There's an item that lets you infinitely swap between day and night so you can rapid fire the quests.

You could try mining slowly, experimenting with builds, exploring around the surface, and maybe getting someone in your game to guide you around. If you want to have all the fun you could try learning everything yourself, but if you are not the type to sit around and make your life harder then maybe a video on a guide might be good. But the best place in my opinion to get a guide is from this server or an online platform of terraria as the people are experienced and know a lot.
