Expert mode is very forgiving, they just made mastermode to address that. Mastermode is still very forgiving. So they made FTW to address that + add different stuff to bosses like people wanted in mastermode.

It depends on how you experience the game. Expert is very easy to some so mastermode needs to exist. Mastermode is easy to some, so mastermode + FTW needs to exist. Just don't play it if it's too hard for you.
