Well, amphibian will provide a 48% ascent speed increase, terraspark boots will add .7 seconds of flight time and up your max run speed (might be relevant on asphalt), along with water walking. Amphibian will likely be more helpful

I defeated daytime empress in classic using pre-plantera gear, it's not that hard with ranger and mage.
Ideally you make a long flat asphalt road of at least 200 blocks alongside one floor of platforms around 30-40 blocks above the ground so that you have good mobility
