Ok, so as an update, I realized I went all the way through prehardmode without buffs at all, I needed accessories for face tanking instead of "dodging" (XD), and I think I should have this

Mastermode

As a melee player

This is a very common occurrence for me that prehardmode I use no buffs and MAYBE all warding and menacing accessories, and a decent weapon modifier (sometimes I use no modifier weapons cus again, they have no disadvantages)

Hard mode I get all warding and menacing accessories, post plantera is when I truly use buffs for all bosses (unless I'm stuck, also I almost always have to buff for WOF), and I make sure all weapons have a good modifier

(remembering now that in past solo playthroughs I would always over prepare for WOF assuming the lazers hurt like a truck)
