If you make a 6 block wide hole with no walls down to hell will stop it. Best way to do it is dynamite down. Or if your on journey then you can just turn it off.

Also beating plantera causes the biomes to spread much slower

I just corrupted a quarter of the corruption. Which the corruption is protected by a big u all around the biome and deleted all background walls at least it about a bit bigger than 6 blocks I think
