First of all(I know this is stupid now), make sure that the ps4 controller is properly connected to your android/iphone. See if you can use it outside terraria. When properly connected, there should be buttons on ingame to show which buttons do which function. Personally I check first if I can use the analog to select/ok and cancel buttons.

Yeah obs armor does not have set bonuses in mobile. Spinal tap whip is pc exclusive. Best prehardmode whip is snapthorn while for armor its the bee set.
