it is not a big mistake depend on how you handle it. If you spent three (real time) hours, risk lives digging partition immediately (so that corruption and hallow will not spread over the boarder), there is little to worry (as you can fish for the highest tier of ore without smashing altars). Whereas if you forgot to dig the partitions (on a world you will play for more than 50 hour) you might seriously regret it
