i managed to get frost armour before i've beaten a hm boss and it seems to have overall better stats than hallowed armour (compared to the ranged set of hallowed as I'm playing as ranged mainly)

I would recommend adamantite or titanium if this is your first playthrough in a while. Choose ranger for the easiest progression in my opinion.

Ranger is the "best" class because: it is beginner friendly, it is strong from the second you load into the world all the way to the moon lord, has a good balance of defense and damage, has a wide variety of weapons and armor, you can attack from a distance, and chlorphyte bullets have aimbot.
