I just bombed a big area in the cavern layer, put 180 mud in the air, planted mushroom seeds, brought a life form analyzer and waited. The farm I made was very simple so it had enemies spawning below, I used the rainbow rod to kill them cuz they take entity space and don't let worms spawn. Then it's just getting to the worms faster than the enemies spawning on the platform.
