later on though, some bosses will occasionally make you lose lock-on status, requiring you to manually re lock-on again, so it does demand more attention there, but it's still usable, but even then, by that point, you have loads of options for homing weapons and weapons that have easy to hit projectiles where that isn't really that bad of an issue

I don't think it's toggleable on touchscreen. On controller and keyboard, you have to hold the [interact] key for it to zoom, so that's probably your best option for getting around it
