Found a work around. For any newbies like me, this is one place where them vertebrae come in handy. Go collect vicious mushrooms in the crimson. I think ull need 30 as I think it's 1 mushroom to this recipe. 30 times.
You have to make vicious powder. This will require a bottle on a work bench. Or alchemy table.

After you have 30 of those and 15 vertebrae you can make a bloody spine. Take that to the crimson. I believe it has to be underground. Use it. Summons the brain of cthulu

Short answer is yes. Long answer is, in order to join a server you have to be on their network. Which can be done via a VPN. If you have a friend close to you, you can do a local thing without a VPN.
