I'd definitely upgrade your armor and weapon. Titanium or Adamantite armor is a good choice to shoot for, and Frost armor is even better. The Shadowflame Knife, Bananarang and Drippler Crippler are some of the best melee choices for the fight.

It's absolutely possible to achieve great results with them, you just need to take some time getting familiar with the aiming controls, or use lock-on. Daedalus Stormbow in particular profits a lot from lock-on due to being a rain weapon.
