some great early weapons are boomstick, gold/platinum bow, diamond staff, wand of frosting, enchanted boomerang, starfury. There’s also stuff crafted with jungle items like blade of grass, thorn chakram, snapthorn

Making a very long bridge and removing any obstacles is an effective strategy and probably the most used one.

Obstacles like block of ashes should be removed, otherwise the WOF would squish you to death.
