Haven't read a lot since high school, but I liked The Green Mile when I read it for AP Lang

I've tried to make a sort of maze or metroidvania in Terraria, but it's a tough one. It needs to be very particular and it would be a lot of work to make. I still do want to get that done one day. Also doesn't help that, being the creator of the maze, it would be hard to make it a true maze when I know where everything is.

It's mostly fine for me, though I know some people don't like a few nerfs, which is fair. I do wish some of the transformations were less restrictive, like the mouse not being able to use items, but that could probably be a preference mods could cater to.

Favourite myth might be the first time we say a meteorite land with golf balls. Also there was one where we saw some sort of developer text while using the housing menu which was very neat. Least favourite challenge is tougher but I think the I realized the challenges that just take away certain items aren't quite as interesting, I'd rather have the world look weird and change the gameplay in that way too if I can.

People come up with all sorts of crazy ideas, some of them lead to very cool interactions that no one would ever find otherwise. Just recently we found that the dryad can disappear into the void when she has the imortality of the "purify this" seed, which is surprising

I think if you're looking to get people interested the simplest way is to fill a niche that not many people are currently filling. Simple but can be very difficult! I think you just have to work at it a bit and find your style, my early videos look very rough compared to today. Practice makes perfect essentially, you kinda pick up how to pace everything and which parts to include as you go. Also, focus on the thumbnails, they're just as important as the video itself. You could probably talk to other people about it here on this discord, or maybe there's another similar one. Also plenty of reddit communties dedicated to stuff like that. And you can ask questions anytime on my server if you want!

Garnet is my favourite mineral, it's a unique one under the microscope (it's just completely blacked out) and you can get some really huge gem-like garnets in certain really deep forming rocks

I use DaVinci Resolve, I have the studio version (one time payment which is nice) but there's a free version that does pretty much everything I need, I'd reccomend it for sure.

I don't play Minecraft really, but I don't remember it being that dangerous back in the old Pocket Edition days, though you do have to deal with hunger. I think I'd still pick that, a cave bat or demon eye would probably mulch me in Terraria.

Other than a WoS aquiring one, I think an achievement for killing Duke before the mechs would be a neat challenge.

I'd really reccomend the tiny worlds, I have the originals in the folder in some of my descriptions, and there are others on steam, though they might be really hard without explosive bunnies.

I think they're kinda running out of runway in a way, lot's of small changes and tweaks which are nice, but it would be cool to see them work on something completely new at some point. But at the same time, there's always more to add and balance in a game like this. If I could add one item, I wouldn't mind seeing an item that gives you better control of time after ML, like an upgraded sundial for farming the travelling merchant. It would be similar to how the game basically let's you do whatever you want after ML with new solutions, the terraformer, bottomless shimmer bucket, and zenith.

Yeah I'm a big fan of Good Kid. I've been listening to them for a couple years now. I actually stumbled upon them on a Valorant video ages ago haha. I really liked the sound of them, I'm into alternative/pop punk type music so it was up my alley. I am very excited for the new album, they always deliver. I don't usually listen to singles though, I like consuming albums in full when they come out for the full experience.

So when I was younger, maybe like 10 years old, I made a PC Minecraft account with my oldest sibling. We decided to share an account to save money. My initials of my first and middle name are CJ, and their username at the time was DEATHBOT. So we combined them for CJ_DEATHBOT. After a bit my sibling realised they didn't actually care for Minecraft as much as I did so it just kinda became my Minecraft account. I use the V2 skin in my videos purely because it's red and a killer robot so it fits my channel pretty perfectly, and I found the resource pack on the workshop. So I haven't played much of it, I remember beating V2 for the first time I guess? Idk it was a long time ago. He was really hard

ooh, I have fond memories with the toxikarp because I had to use it on ranged class without any guns or bows. I like the dart pistol/rifle, although the nerf hurts them pretty badly. Paintball gun is pretty goated. Sandgun goes crazy if used right but can be annoying. The flamethowers are solid too. I'm a fan of a lot of them tbh

I play a lot more vanilla than modded, I've only really played calamity and thorium fully, and I'd say calamity is my favourite. I know it's basic but it's a great mod. Obviously there's some quality of life mods like magic storage that are good, but calamity is just too good. I plan on doing fargo's eternity mode at some point, though.

I'd say Aegis fruit as defense goes crazy but you get it later in the game where 4 defense doesn't make a huge difference. I'd say vital crystal since you can get it pre boss and the regen is really good

Probably the Terraprisma, the challenge to get it is unmatched and the reward is just so dope. While its kinda overshadowed shortly after with the Stardust Dragon and the cell staff does a similar job to the terraprisma, it's just such a cool weapon and clears the pillars like they're nothing

I actually had fun on it, master mode is too easy for me now so I needed the legendary mode challenge, and the removal of the solidifer and the shimmer did make it harder, but I liked having to find alternate ways to get weapons, blocks and all that the shimmer gives. I'd definitely recommend it if you like a challenge!

The boss fights I think, the progression you get after beating bosses just works so well and I love the challenge and how many bosses there are. I grew up a Minecraft kid but I always wanted more bosses, and Terraria has that.

Minecraft: 7/10, infinite potential especially with mods but there are quite a few things I just don't particularly like about it
Overwatch: 6.5/10, its fun but there are many criticisms with it haha, I just keep coming back to it as the best hero shooter, but blizzard sucks
Stardew: 8.5/10, great game, very fun, infinite replayablility, its like a chill Terraria, I just like bosses and fighting so it lacks a bit there but obviously that's not what the game is meant to be. It's perfect at being the game it is meant to be.
Pokemon ORAS: 7.8 too much water
Pokemon Legends Arceus: 8/10 heaps of fun, changes up the pokemon formula, it is brought down by text bloat though.
BTD6: 8/10, pretty much the perfect BTD game, just gets kinda repetitive and boring after a while, but a high skill ceiling and low skill floor, very fun for basically anyone.
Mario galaxy: 9/10, absolute peak
Mario galaxy 2: 9.5/10 absolute peak but better
Mario odyssey: 9/10 a lot of fun, the collection in the game is so good, its only not a 10 because its not that hard
Undertale: 8/10, insanely good soundtrack, fun, hard, crazy replayablity, changes your perspective on video games, pretty peak overall, brought down by some dialogue bloat like mettaton/alphys

Honestly I don't spend enough time on building both in-game and when it comes to watching building-focused creators. I have a bunch of videos in my watch later playlist for how to improve at building, maybe one day I'll get around to watching them

It really depends on the playthrough since I usually have some kind of restriction which changes how each fight plays. In general though I think Providence is one of the best designed, and I love Aquatic Scourge as a pre-hm challenge

I do find myself putting on the toad vanity whenever I find it and it usually stays on for most of the run. Other than that all the different capes and cloaks are pretty cool to wear on top of armor

I tend to like less modded since there's already so much content in just vanilla, usually adding even one content mod gives you more than you'd ever need in a single playthrough. Adding multiple content mods usually just gives players too many options and I think would lead to decision fatigue for me

I think it'd be nice if the differences between wings on the same tier weren't just cosmetic. At the moment there's not much mechanical variety, you just go from the best/easiest at one tier to the best/easiest at the next until late hardmode, where there's a nice balance of pros and cons between fishron, empress and betsy wings. My favourite is probably empress for the vertical speed, and I don't really have a least favourite

I have very mixed opinions on it. I'm glad it exists for people that aren't into the grind of more classic skyblocks, but feel that a lot of the changes ar a bit overreaching. Most of the new slimes aren't necessary and actively cover up more interesting progression paths, such as honey slimes covering up the fact that bee hives now drop hive blocks when falling into liquids, and dirt slimes covering up the fact you can now extractinate poop for dirt. I have my own plans to re-ignite some of that challenge and showcase some interesting tech, but it requires editing the game rather than just starting with specific blocks and seeds, something which previously wasn't required for an interesting, challenging skyblock

Most fun is probably CelebrationMK10, which I think was exactly the devs intention when adding it. No extra difficulty, just a few tweaks that make the game feel fresh

Depends why they're playing, if it's to have fun with a larger group of friends then Thorium, if it's just a couple of you and you want a challenge then maybe calamity, and if you're on your own and want even more challenge in the form of a collectathon then Fargos. I guess it sounds a little cliche since these are the three biggest mods, but I think for people new to modded that's a good thing as they can ask for help or guidance and people will actually know what they're talking about

I prefer the idea of balloons and mounts to wings, and kinda wish wings weren't so powerful that they're typically the #1 option. Also ancient cobablt enchant from fargos is super fun for movement

This might sound corny and sorry in advance if I'm misrepresentation the concept Sins with my answer (idk much about that topic in specific), but Anger. A lot of the most significant things I've done & achieved were because of irritation or disapproval towards something else in one way or another, giving me a big source of motivation to work hard on creating something.

I like cheese a lot in stuff like cheeseburgers, but I tend to dislike "raw" cheese. Like the yellow square cheeses that are cold. I don't know what they are named.

During my teenage years I was pretty infamously known for my obsession with the Pokemon Gardevoir. But things changed since then and I haven't been interested in Pokemon nearly as much. For my actual answer, I'd say Dunsparce is my favorite Pokemon. This originates from my "Blaze Black 2 Challenge Mode Status Moves Only" challenge video where I caught a Dunsparce early on in the playthrough and basically used it as a joke with low expectations, but it ended up being surprisingly good to the point of shocking me.

I also always liked Dunsparce's design, and Pokemon Crystal is my #1 childhood game & the game I grew up with, so Dunsparce ended up being my favorite. Starmie is a pretty close second!

From my experience so far at least, things related to scope in general. From avoiding scope creep, to understanding just how much work there is to do, and trying to be consistent in reaching your goal without moving it further ahead. As a solo dev, there's also a lot of pressure from needing to use skills you have little to no experience in (depending on the person), such as art or music.

In short summary, people in my server would post images of Touhou characters, and Youmu Konpaku I found the design among other things interesting for some reason. After a while I started to look up info/wiki pages about the character among other things to research things, and I fell into a big rabbit hole & is how I ended up getting into Touhou. I like Youmu Konpaku so much that she's actually by far the main reason & motivation for me becoming a game developer, to make games starring her!

If talking about the platformers specifically, probably either Mario 64 DS or New Super Mario Bros DS. When it comes to Mario games as a whole, probably Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga alongside M&L Bowser's Inside Story (former if I had to only pick one).

I think it's in a pretty good state, even if I think there wouldn't be much harm in keeping Whip stacking just with a few tweaks (not arbitrary nerfs, moreso mainly having prefixes/modifiers not "repeat" the bonus tag damage).

I would bring back whip stacking with a few minor tweaks to make sure it fits well. I would rework a few minions like Pirate Staff, as well as making Slime Staff drop from King Slime way more commonly.

I would also introduce a new Pre-Mech minion, easier but also a tad bit weaker than Blade/Sanguine to smooth things out & provide alternatives to players.

On the top of my head, I like Hallowed Melee armor's visuals a lot, as well as Crystal Assasin. In term of gameplay/usability I think I like Forbidden Armor and Dark Artist armor pieces the most! Honorable mention to full Frost Armor set with its frostbite set bonus as well, you can make "rainbow DoT" gimmick builds with it.

Without diving deep into the topic since it's volatile for lack of a better term, I noticed more problems with the community as I stayed in it for longer. I think Terraria players (specifically people discussing the game & its combat options) need to put more emphasis into research when asserting weapon viability.

On the top of my head, Sorbet Cafe's Lawnmower only challenge is legendary and is an all-time hightlight of the community if you ask me.

I also like the No WASD challenge a lot, whether it be from my own experience or seeing others' take on it (Crabbar and GP). When I did the challenge myself many years ago I was still relatively new to the game. I almost want to do the challenge again but on Legendary/GFB difficulty to really put myself to the test, but I have more important things to do these days.

If we're including Legendary/GFB, then I'd say Legendary Wall of Flesh and Legendary Golem are the hardest, both practically require tank builds to reasonably overcome without cheesing.

I'd say to either play around building features/mechanics instead of directly games at first, OR attempt to make a small, short game.

"Youmu's Cube Adventure" was my first game and it's what I built straight away when I was learning Godot, and I'd still say that was a little too big of a scope as a first project.

When I get started on a game, I have an empty test room and spend many hours slowly building mechanics, and eventually once all of the core mechanics are made, I can finally move on to slowly expanding the game with actual levels, level design, whatever is applicable. That's what I do in my own case, that is. Different things works for different devs, I presume.

I haven't used Lua, so I can't answer on that, sorry. I started with learning the bare bones basics of Python then learned GDScript in Godot (which has similarities to Python).

Wings in general I'd say, but that's a rather boring answer. For a more specific choice, Dissonance Hook probably.

I can't make direct comparisons to other game engines since I only used Godot, but I chose Godot since it's often praised for being intuitive & accessible to beginners while still being powerful on its own. And I do think I ended up making the right choice, especially since GDScript is straightforward to learn coming from Python.

I do think GD can be considered a game engine, just a more limited one compared to dedicated game engines like Godot.

Platinum. Most powerful regular pre-Hardmode ore, and the ore is smooth-looking with a bright recognizable color.

I've a complicated subject, but I'd say no for the most parts. There are many ways to cheese Terraria's challenges in general, and tank builds are also a necessary evil to make bosses like Moon Lord and Legendary WoF & Legendary Golem actually bearable to deal with.

Roller Skates literally powercreeped Amphibian Boots which is egregious, but I expect them to be nerfed.

I'd say in term of weapons at least, Terra Blade is somewhat egregious. At least even Daedalus Stormbow has clear weaknesses & limitations, and Vampire Knives are difficult to obtain & won't defend the Eternia Crystal on their own. Terra Blade on the other hand is relatively easy to obtain and does essentially EVERYTHING effectively, if not amazingly, to the point you don't really need to consider other weapons let alone weapon switching much.

I think both Thorium and Calamity are logical answers, but that's boring (very popular & widely played, but have clear flaws and dated elements there and there)

Some acclaimed mods that I didn't like nearly as much for varying reasons are Infernum and Stars Above (specifically its boss fights). I also recall a worldgen overhaul mod (Was it Renmants? I don't remember clearly, sorry) that made pre-hardmode progression significantly different, and while it was cool for one playthrough, I wouldn't play it again since it basically trivialized exploration and handed you items on a silver platter. But it's not directly a bad thing by itself, it just streamlines an aspect of the game. But I've seen people say that this improves the gameplay overall, which I disagree with.

Using the weapon in general and keeping track of what it's doing in realistic situations like boss fights (not just hitting dummies or something), especially when comparing to other options. Not trying to sound patronizing, but there are some weapons like Vampire Knives where you can tell if someone actually used the weapon & looked at its impact based on if they either acknowledge or undermine their clear biggest strengths (Vampire Knives again being the most clear example of this).

"Viable" is rather vague and subjective in some parts. But if for one out of many examples, in Pre-mech we consider Ice Bow and Sky Fracture the middle & perfect "average" bar, then pre-mech weapons are expected to have performance that is at least comparable to these two aforementioned weapons, preferably higher. The same applies for mobbing/crowd control, early Hardmode weapon are expected to be better or AT LEAST provide alternate options to setups that use "entry-level" weapons such as Flamelash, Laser Rifle and Pre-hardmode Minion mixing.

It's pretty hard to tell. I could see myself being more adjacent to Plants vs. Zombies and Bloons communities since Terraria wouldn't be there to grab my attention. I would also have less friends, or at least totally different friends. I'd also probably end up diving into other creative fields (whether it's gamedev or something else like drawing) a little sooner, perhaps? I know I spent a lot of time doing content mod mixing playthroughs among other things in Terraria after I retired from content creation from my main YT channel.

Meaningful boss reworks/changes. No diss towards Re-Logic, but it really surprised me that they put all this effort into Moon Lord's great resprite (when it was already a good sprite), but did not touch the actual gameplay & mechanics of the fight whatsoever even though that's where all of the criticism of Moon Lord is directed at. I also feel similarly for going through the effort of giving every boss their own boss theme, but again not touching their mechanics whatsoever when again they have been consistently criticized by the community with many requests for changes.

Boss fights gameplay-wise are the weakest part of Terraria for the most parts, despite how popular they are and how much importance the community put on them.

Terraria has ton of content backed up by replay value, and I also simply love Terraria's progression and steadily upgrading my character through the game. I also spend a ton of time doing speedkills, comparisons and etc to help develop the meta and strategies in general. Major vanilla updates also shake things up whenever they happen. Mods also naturally give players a lot more to do.

Were pretty solid games for the longest time but the slow pace of improvements with modern standards coupled with numerous regressions in the newer games, made them fall off a lot with the new entries. Didn't touch the game again for years, until eventually in 2019, a friend helped me learn how to play the game & showed me the ropes.

Dissonance Hook is often undervalued and has in fact use cases that other hooks cannot replicate, such as escaping Destroyer coil without taking damage or teleporting through Moon Lord's death ray without Rod of Discord.

Before 1.4.5 at least, Basilisk Mount is the definitive "Sleeper OP" item in the game. It is (at least was) dominant and gave players big advantages, but practically NO ONE in the community even acknowledges its existence outside of a few players like myself who abuses its strengths including in tough challenges.

Cross Necklace isn't just arguably one of the best defensive accessories in the game, but also borderlines makes Cobalt Shield-line redundant & partly outclassed.

Out of my builds, the skyblock world I made when 1.4.5 released is one of my most proud creations, but one of my alltime favorite builds from not me is a Kraken build that my friend Qcean made for a build competition years ago

How did you learn how to build stuff in the game?

Trial and error. Lots of practice. My style has changed over time. Early on, looking up inspiration and images can help!

Probably my boss themed houses!

how do you get good at building in terraria?

Practice, mostly. Don't worry about how "good" you are at it. Just build and have fun. Look up images and videos for inspiration, but try not to compare yourself with others too much. It's a game. So have fun with it! Everyone starts somewhere, and getting better takes time, so be patient and don't be afraid to make mistakes

Big fan, have you worked on minecart hoiks?

Somehow, hoiking minecarts has never even occurred to me, but I will certainly be playing around with it in the future now that you've planted the seed!

When you finish the Pylon Redux, what's the next plan?

Other than a Subnautica playthrough coming on the new channel, the main channel will be making a house with all blocks in it, when the pylons are done. After that, lots more planned!

What's your favourite Terraria mod (content wise)?

I haven't played a ton with mods yet, but I plan to. From what I have played, one of my favorites has been Chad's Furniture

What's your favorite Pylon?

Underworld. I love that they added one for that biome

Your favourite game besides terraria?

Hard to say! For sandboxing, I really enjoy House Flipper 2

any older videos ideas that never got released?

Mostly a big project that I want to finish someday where I build an entire world in Terraria from scratch

My favorite hoik build isn't one that I made, but rather an semi-afk full progression build made by DiceManX years ago

how do you make good builds without using paint and actuators?

Depends on the project. Lots of practice with blocks and figuring out palettes to work with helps a lot. Some things just won't look as good without paints or actuators, however

How has your day been so far?

Busy! The washing machine broke down so I had to repair it just before this

Any plans for future terracore servers?

I'd like to, yes! But they're expensive to run, and I have a big move coming up, so I've got it on hold until I can justify the cost

Scifi

Thoughts on Radio Thing lighting?

I really like it and I love that it's a placeable monolith now, and it works great with other monoliths

What's the story behind your character/persona/avatar?

I used to play a resto druid in World of Warcraft, and was always just a tree guy, so I made as close to a tree person in Terraria as I could. Changed the colors to black and green, because I like that combination. Not much beyond that 😄

what are your thoughts on the 1.4.5 update

I've really enjoyed what it brought to the game in the building department. Some of the changes have taken getting used to, especially with painted walls and how they overlap each other, but on the whole, I'm very happy with the building additions. I just wish placed kites would actually fly!

Was your username inspired by Khaos from the Skylanders series, or was that just a complete coincidence?

Just a coincidence! The name was actually randomly generated on a character in WoW 🤣

I used to build a fair bit in minecraft, but eventually was introduced to Terraria. While I didn't really get into it at first, after the 1.2 update when they added painting and block sloping, I tried it again and was hooked

I got to check it out early as a beta tester, but I had a lot of fun playing around with placeable critters

For apperance, I like the UFO, but the broom is just plain better. It has a smaller hitbox and works in liquids, while the UFO is larger and you dismount if you touch any liquid.

If you could add a new furniture set, what would the theme of it be?

I think I would ask for some sort of void furniture set

It's a bit much, but I do love a good blizzard from time to time

I have drawn, but I'm not great at it by any means, and I rarely do it. Last time I drew was when MythicalWater asked me to draw for one of their videos in a collaboration a few years back

I like the idea of it! But I don't own it, so I have no direct personal opinions. It seems great for what it does

Any thoughts on creating a build with a Sandstorm in mind?

I would love to build with weather effects in mind, but the reason I don't is because they aren't consistent. Would love some weather monoliths, then I'd build with a lot of weather effects in the future

If you could talk to dogs, what would your first three questions be?

I would ask Shino what he thinks of me first of all, then I'd ask him why he has to destroy every squeaker in existence, and lastly, I would ask him why he hates getting wet so much

How many times have you completed the game?

If you mean defeating the moonlord, only twice o.o Once on my own and once in TerraCorps. I rarely do playthroughs! I still haven't fully beat the game yet, as I haven't unlocked all of the achievements

Do you like Pokémon games, if so, what's your favorite Pokémon?

As a kid, my favorite pokemon game was actually Pokemon Stadium 2 with my friends. I haven't played a ton of pokemon games, but I was really into Go at one point with friends and family.

What inspired you to make terraria content?

I definitely loved the game a ton when I first started playing, but it was after releasing my first couple videos on Terraria (which were boss tutorials), I knew I REALLY wanted to make more because I was introduced to the wonderful community!

I used to get down on some Minecraft just before my channel started, and my username on there was something like CDWaffle? Something of the sorts, but any time I logged on, my buddies would type "Oh yeah, Waffle Time Waffle Time". I fought against it, didn't like it, but then heard it enough to realize it had a ring to it and ended up liking it! Now it's my name forever LOL
