even though you are doing melee, id reccomend using clockwork assault rifle, if you somehow dont know its dropped by WoF and is extremely powerful on the switch version, as it near constantly fires, with crystal bullets and some ranger armor and accessories ive gotten over 1000 dps

its still my theory (more of a thought tbh) that 1.4 could come out around the same time as the other ports get the dont starve crossover, i wouldnt be surprised if the crossover has been in progress for a while, and it would make sense that both 1.4 on switch and the crossover would be being done around the same time, so it wouldnt surprise me if 1.4 came out sometime during the crossover
