after you beat it "the ancient spirits of light and darkness" gets released. thus getting you into hardmode

Probably being able to deal damage at range but a good fast knockback melee

It’s gets pretty mana intensive, but there are accessories that automatically drink mana potions for you and increase your damage

Mainly found in the jungle and the hard mode dungeon

Your star launcher (star cannon) is incredible against the worm (it's called the destroyer).

The star cannon has infinite pierce, and the destroyer is made up of 80 segments that all have their own hitbox.

You can avoid boss spawns by staying underground by the way.

I'm late to this but here's what helps:
Build an arena (mainly just platforms so you can move freely without running into a natural wall), get a full set of adamantite or titanium armor (depending on what you got) and use buff potions.

Potions are likely going to be the hardest part of this since a lot of them require ingredients that you might have deemed useless. Dayblooms are a good example.

There's a better armor set available at that stage but I'd be surprised if a new player found that out by themselves.
