Hey guys, I've owned Terraria since launch on PC and slowly became one of my favorite games with friends.

Life happened, have had two kids and now the youngest just picked up Terraria on the Switch, because I'd read in the wiki that it should be <cross platform> supported as long as the versions matched. I assume this is not the case any longer.

That being said, I host a dedicated server instance and have always done so for the last decade. I assume the Switch version cannot play with my server, but which method would I ahve from PC/Steam to Switch, and if not, is there an ETA on when that might be supported officially?

I would love for him to see the worlds I've saved over the years, some were last played on older versions I probably cant launch, but the idea will be to start a new one with him if this an possibility.

Terraria has already given me years of love, I still have my maps from version 1.0 somewhere I'm sure.

I was baffled it kept getting free updates and so I've purchased it at least 10x as a gift or in this case on console (also own on Android and iOS)

When I'd read you might be able to make the Switch work with a PC server I was super hyped.

I'll wait however long it takes and if it never happens, not like I don't have existing options to play with my kid 🙂

But if you want an alternate method of achieving something similar there are a few options

Grapple cancels are a good option

But another decent option is having smart doors enabled and having evenly spaced doors to grapple onto, it's a bit jank but if you really suck at grapple cancels they work

melee is the easiest class because you can just tank hits

mage does the most damage but if you get hit you take much more damage
