Ditch the Sunfury and orichalcum sword
If you focus summoner, use either spider set or obsidian armor with firecracker to shred skeleton prime and destroyer
Melee has some pretty mediocre weapons in early hardmode, but your best options are breaker blade, flying knife, any yoyo you recently got, and the nights edge. Kill any of the bosses to get the durendal and Excalibur from hallow bars and then shred the rest

I just take it out, die, close the game, & reopen it- that sounds way more convoluted, plus you can dupe multiple items with my method

just make sure autosave is off

when your character dies it automatically saves it's inventory & HP in a separate file that doesn't obey autosave, so dying will always save your character no matter what, but the world can remain unchanged, including chest contents

Destroyer is the most cheeseable boss in the game

But he is kinda difficult if you fight him the honorable way

Though you may get bullied by some groups if you're playing classic difficulty

Daedalus stormbow and star cannon turn him into a fine paste if you are struggling terribly
