Just use life steal its the best weapon against him since you get an extra 5 damage every tick on top of possible crits that can yield 2 damage for every hit and and 10 on a tick.

This was pre life steal. The first time we beat him was after 1.2.4 dropped for mobile and we got to use the North Pole combined with Frost Armor for the Frostburn.
