i don't really understand this? cause, sure, every big giant evil shady corporation wants money, but that hasn't affected minecraft all that much. its price has stayed at a steady 30 euros, from what i've researched, since alpha, when it was only 15 euros (finding info on minecraft's price history is weirdly difficult considering it's the best selling game oat), and before that, in beta, it was free. so not even like they're inflating the price as more content gets added

there are minecoins, sure, but that's a completely optional transaction on a completely different platform. and while i don't know much about how bedrock works, it still seems like you can get the base minecraft experience completely for free

there are also realms which is just paid multiplayer from what i've seen, but you can pretty easily (and most importantly, freely) get multiplayer with the "essential" mod

you pay once, you get free updates, and if you don't like something, you can backtrack a version, which terraria only recently started doing thanks to an april fools

I would say the main issues come from Minecoins and spin offs. What you say is true, for the average user, minecoins are a cosmetic. But for modders, they are the only way to make money off of modding, unless you consider donations, which get hectic. This has encouraged modders to move to Bedrock, and also encouraged slop to be made instead of actual content. This is why the Java modding community has allegedly slowed down significantly. This doesn’t include things like pre listed servers, which are a whole nightmare of their own. As for their games, Legends speaks for itself, Mojang didn’t care enough about it to make it a good game, they cared about the money they could make off the title. As for Dungeons, the game is good, but lacks a certain polish to it, and Mojang seems to have no idea what the word “balance” means. Not to mention 6 DLCs and a pass (or three?), which are the usual indicators of money grabs. Of course these are my own thoughts (mostly) and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Once you start playing apocalypse, I get instashot a lot, and there isn’t a way around it, because Minecraft started piling mobs in small locations. They deal such high damage and in such large quantities that only specific artifacts can balance it out, forcing you to do one or two of the maps repeatedly for them. At least that’s my experience. Also Mojang seemed to think that “more projectiles and enemies makes better boss fights”

But in the normal difficulty it's decent.
