so i'm trying to mimic the ground below this little glowing mushroom island i'm making with the plan that there'd be massive overgrown mushroom stems going from the ground to the sky island.

but i had the realization that there isn't an easy way to make a ground floor to island "stairway". does anyone have any good ideas on what to make to climb up or down without needing to grapple to the structure and climb it?

if i had to throw out a suggestion you could make smth resembling a structure that would allow you to go up but stick with teleporters for the actual transport

thanks to your idea i remembered that where the hole was in my screenshot was a giant hill that i blew up. the entrance could come from the inside of the hill thats been moved all the way up to the sky

it took me- roughly 4 hours.

i went for a rustic- used vibe. with the inner structure showing through the bricks.

I actually love the hell out of this!

The bullet hell section would fit the lihzard vibe in my opinion with the traps- and in general make Golem feel more protected and sacred!

additionally in harder difficulties like expert and master- the patterns could change for more interesting dodging!

personal addition to the idea- making the arena larger so the player has more room to dodge- but add unbreakable spikes on the walls and ceiling During the fight so they cant just camp areas of the arena.

I generally only build in endgame so by then there's no real necessary function that hasn't already been made, but i do tend to incorporate things into my builds, like NPC housing, crafting stations, buff stations, storages, etc.

first time back in about 2 years and decided to learn building and try getting good at it! Here's some of the builds I've made/worked on since being back and attempting to get better. The purple manor is my first attempt at a castle, and to the left I tried my first attempt at a 3d build! The tower I made in the shape of a vampire/bat was kinda just something I threw together randomly lol. I had some inspiration for the other builds which helped me a bit!

also, I tried making an aurora background for the castle using blue starry blocks with illuminant painting and deep colors! I think it turned out pretty cool, though if you have any other cool ideas for backgrounds, let me know and ill give a shot!

Alright, I'll do this. I guess I'll try to find another block for that, since ice looks too monolithic, or whatever is the word I'm looking for. If I made a bigger roof out of it, it would just look like a chunk of ice.

In terms of feedback, I think the multiple eyes thing kinda detracts from the horror of where the eyes are implied to come out of (like, through EoC's pupil)
The veins are a lil rough, they feel more like vines, and the back half is very flat. It's supposed to be gory and bloody and it's not really conveyed well

I'm not much of a spriter either unfortunately. Could look at that one scene in Kill Bill, the one where the Bride plucks out that woman's eye?

cave tips:

you should have actuators if you have the spinal tap -- use actuators for background details, always try to avoid the squarey-look that combined walls cause. make the icicle stalagtites/mites using actuated ice instead of background walls

and IMO boulder walls dont mix well unless used in large connected portions because it doesnt blend well, get some ecto mist setup to make worn + craggy stone wall and spam both randomly, or some other good stone wall combo

the actual elevator shaft looks great imo

if you find another block to try and make it look aged to mix in with the spike blocks, that could be good
